Courtesy Pay

Courtesy Pay is a non-contractual benefit of your personal checking account. Courtesy Pay will save you the embarrassment and expense of returned checks or electronic funds transfers when you make an honest mistake in your checkbook, have unplanned expenses, or run short on cash between paydays.

While we reserve the right to unilaterally refuse to pay any item that is presented, with Courtesy Pay if you write a check/share draft, Bill Pay, or initiate an electronic funds/ACH transfer and the funds are not available in your account or any linked accounts, instead of returning checks unpaid, we may pay the transaction(s) up to a predetermined limit and charge you a Courtesy Pay Fee* for each item paid.

If you use Courtesy Pay, we will mail you a notice every time your account is overdrawn.

This service does not automatically include one-time ATM & Debit Card Courtesy Pay.

If you initiate a transaction, and the funds are not available in your or any linked accounts AND you have opted-out of Courtesy Pay, we will return the item unpaid as NSF and your account will be assessed a NSF fee*.

Courtesy Pay does not cost anything unless you use it and it is automatically offered to all share draft/checking accounts at B.O.N.D. Community FCU opened at least 30 days and maintained in good standing. Items that exceed the Courtesy Pay limit (including Courtesy Pay fees) will be assessed a Non-sufficient funds fee* for each item, and the item will be returned as NSF.

Any Courtesy Pay amount covered by B.O.N.D. Community FCU in the Courtesy Pay process is not considered an account holder loan and is not subject to interest being charged. Courtesy Pay should be used only for occasional and inadvertent overdrafts and should no be relied on in the same manner as, for example a line of credit.

If you initiate a one-time ATM or Debit Card transaction, and the funds are not available in your or any linked accounts AND you have NOT Authorized Us to add ATM & Debit Card Courtesy Pay to your checking account, we will decline the transaction.

If you want to authorize us to pay your one-time ATM and Debit Card transactions, opt-out of courtesy pay, or set up overdraft protection, please fill out the form below:

We reserve the right to require you to pay an overdraft immediately. The order in which we pay share drafts and process other transactions is in the order they are received.

Overdraft Protection vs. Courtesy Pay

An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a transaction, but your financial institution pays it anyway.

With Overdraft Protection funds will be transferred from a previously designated account or line of credit to pay an item when the funds are not available in your account. Overdraft protection does NOT allow an account to be overdrawn (go into a negative balance) to pay an item.

Courtesy Pay on checks/share drafts, ACH/electronic transactions, & bill pay transactions and/or Courtesy Pay on ATM & Debit Card Transactions allows the credit union to pay an item when the funds are not available in your account or any designated accounts. With Courtesy Pay your account will be overdrawn (go into a negative balance) to pay an item.
